Chosing a candidate to vote into office to some persons is simply a matter of party affiliation. Others, however, cast their votes based on specific characteristics they see in their candidate of choice. In addition, the qualities or characteristics of community leaders further determine the choice of the electorates.

Chief Richard Lamai, a staunch personality, eloquent Speaker/creative writer per excellent, complete gentleman, thoroughbred business man, smart politician, witty, very intelligentsia and a great asset to Fugar community and beyond has possessed these qualities over the time.

As a successful political leader, Lamai has possessed the honesty quality. Being honest can sometimes be difficult because it makes individuals vulnerable. It reveals who we really are and discloses our mistakes, which gives others the opportunity to criticize or reject openly.  Honesty develops character and builds credibility and trust, which are the foundation to evoke confidence and respect from those around you, and in the case of political leaders, teammates and constituents.

Lamai' disposition to life is unassuming, a peaceful achiever who has chosen the path of kindness, meakness and friendliness.

Lamai lives an awesome life, he is compassionate in understanding the suffering of others and wanting to do something to alleviate that suffering. While many see compassion as a weakness, true compassion is a characteristic that converts knowledge to wisdom. He sees the needs of those he leads and to determine the course of action that would be of greatest benefit to all those involved.

He is a fine gentleman with impeccable character, astute community mentor, and passionate father who derives pleasure in extending a hand of kindness to people irrespective of tribe and religion. His community testify of his caring nature at every point in time. 

The word integrity is defined as ‘the adherence to moral and ethical principles; the soundness of moral character.’  It is a synonym for honesty and uprightness, and is a vital characteristic for those in political leadership. Lamai possesses this and he is trusted because he never veers from inner values, even when it might benefit him to do so, he has the trust of his community. This requires the highest standard of integrity. 

Having confidence in a political leader is about having faith or belief that he or she will act in a right, proper, or effective way.  Lamai has unvavering confidence in himself as well in his ability to lead; he has inspired others, drawing on a level of trust which sparks the motivation to get others on board and get the job done.

He is a flexible leader who understands the give-and-take aspects of politics, and the ability to find the common ground.  Lamai listens carefully to all sides, to not only hear his argument but to especially learn what it will take on behalf of all parties involved to reach a consensus. This characteristic allows him to recognize setbacks and criticism, to learn from them and move forward.

He is known for his drive for development, peace making, teachings, fluency, with a sound listening spirit. Highly intelligent with notes, deeply lettered, those whose paths crossed him have one good story or the other to tell about either his openness, prudence, geniunesness, indomitable spirit, etc.

Lamai has achieved the aim of the Simple Agenda by taking the advocacy to every family, unit, clan, ward, local government, district, and Edo state in general with his leadership ability. He is a universal politician who go extra miles to building bridges of friendship amongst other political leaders. An amiable lover of God who has used his wealth of experience to groom young adults to aspire for enviable positions in all walks of life. Apart from his excellent qualities in politics and admirable business profile he has also passionately supported creative ideas to grow; Lamai has craved for a better Nigeria with his talents.

He has aspired to respect different views, analyze problems, and identify the best solutions and not based on loyalty to political party, but rather based on what is good and right and in the best interest of the people and the nation as a whole.
