Obaseki, PDP Attempt to Smuggle Agents list for 5 Political Parties After INEC’s Deadline

 

……as Confusion strikes Obaseki camp, says Edo APC

Less than two weeks to the September 19 election, confusion has struck the Peoples Democratic Party and Governor Godwin Obaseki camp over their frantic efforts to smuggle a list containing names of party agents for 5 other political parties the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Edo state All Progressives Congress (APC) has said.

In a release by the Chairman, Edo State APC Media Campaign Council, Mr. John Mayaki, the party alleged Governor Godwin Obaseki was caught out, trying to submit to INEC, a list of agents doctored in Edo State Government House, for some parties he had been sponsoring, though that exercise closed on September 5.

Mayaki named the parties as APM, ADP, NRM and Labour Party; parties the governor and his PDP had been sponsoring and working in cahoot with.

Mayaki said, “Whatever Obaseki hopes to achieve with his concert of losers is not clear,” the campaign quipped but called on INEC to be alert to any election rigging mischief.

“Just two weeks to go, you could see the confusion in the Obaseki camp. It is getting clear to them they will be thrashed on election day. So, it’s electoral mischief galore, even of a most hare-brained kind — or how,” the Edo APC queried, “do you explain trying to smuggle in agents’ names when the exercise has closed?”

Mayaki said part of the Obaseki confusion was the antics of Anselm Ojesua, who still parades himself as “APC chairman”, when Obaseki, his master and sponsor, had defected to PDP.

“There is no solution to a delusion of grandeur! Which APC is Ojesua chairing? The one corralled by the PDP ‘task collectors’ — to use the words of Rivers State Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, who should know — or the Edo APC, which formidable campaign is throwing Obaseki and his PDP hustlers and opportunists into blind panic?”

But the party said the confusion in the Obaseki camp was not surprising, saying such would be expected of a party without grassroot support.

According to Mayaki, “Each passing day, you would hear them groan and cry, and do things real crazy. But so would you, if you knew you were set for a total and comprehensive electoral hiding. That is the fate of Edo PDP,” the APC campaign spokesman declared, adding that “ill luck is not transferable!

“This agents, it was disclosed, would serve to perpetuate the governor’s anti-democratic agenda during the elections. It would be recalled that submission for party agents ended on September 5th.

“We condemn this unwholesome development and called on INEC and other bodies with election supervisory mandate to prevail on the emerging rigging style of the PDP. All Edo citizens must be vigilant to quell any attempts to pilfer their mandates.”
