SOLUTION TO INSECURITY IN NIGERIA BY HON AHMED MUSA MOMOH.



For me the solution to insecurity lies at the doorsteps of the Governors in the country. The Constitution gave them security votes and they are pocketing it. We need to revisit the issue f security vote so that the monies should be used for the purpose the Constitution planned it for. I believe that all the district heads, clan heads, and traditional rulers in Nigeria know their localities very well. They ought to be part of the security apparatus of the state, along with the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Local council chairmen. We have hunters who daily go into the forest. They know whats going on there. What stops the state governor from having the State Police Commissioner, and DPOs, to properly ensure security in their divisions. If the Governor issues an ultimatum against kidnapping in each division, the Police will leave the N20 they are collecting on the streets and face their jobs. This same orders can be handed down to the local council chairmen and you will results. There are resident hunters across communities, there are vigilante groups. They all need to be funded for security purposes. The Governor should give the security vote to these groups to work and there will be results. People are ready to even go into the forest at night if they are well paid to flush out criminal elements hiding there. 


Generally, Nigeria is not concerned about the security of her citizens. How can the President extend the tenure of the Police Inspector-general when his tenure has since expired? Where is that done? The President is paying lip service to One Nigeria and has been presiding over the nation with a double mind. He should know that he is President of Nigeria not the President of a tribe. 


Let me conclude by saying that the APC is enjoying harmony between the National Assembly and the Executive because of the singular effort of the erstwhile National  working committee led by the former National Chairman , Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. He made a pledge to do this and he did it as he said. That is an achievement for which the party ought to be grateful to him. 



Edo people who are members of the party have No reason  to revalidate their membership. As a matter of fact, I think the APC has disregarded and neglected the role we played in the emergence of the APC as a party. It is on record that Edo played the vital role in the birth of the APC and has contributed immensely to its growth and stability. We deserve to be better appreciated for all these feats. We deserve more. The APC has not treated Edo fairly in the scheme of things

It was jubilation galore on Friday, 3rd July, 2020, as Edo North APC members came out in multitudes to welcome Home, Hon Gani Audu from Abuja after he had been made the APC Deputy Governorship Candidate recently. The DG candidate who arrived at about 4pm was met with a crowd of party Leaders, loyalists, Friends and Families at Ogbido Town, Uzairue.
