For me the solution to insecurity lies at the doorsteps of the Governors in the country. The Constitution gave them security votes and they are pocketing it. We need to revisit the issue f security vote so that the monies should be used for the purpose the Constitution planned it for. I believe that all the district heads, clan heads, and traditional rulers in Nigeria know their localities very well. They ought to be part of the security apparatus of the state, along with the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Local council chairmen. We have hunters who daily go into the forest. They know whats going on there. What stops the state governor from having the State Police Commissioner, and DPOs, to properly ensure security in their divisions. If the Governor issues an ultimatum against kidnapping in each division, the Police will leave the N20 they are collecting on the streets and face their jobs.
